Janie shook her rattle on her own for the first time today. She has been showing interest in the rattle sound for a week or so, and we started to put the rattle in her hand the other day. Tonight, when Janie was fussy, Amy put the rattle in her hand and she started to shake it. With a little coaching she continued to shake it and we caught it on tape. I’m still working on my XHTML work, so it may take a few days for me to get it online, but I’ll work on it.

Janie is doing well, which is good considering both Amy and I have a slight cold.  Hopefully Jane will not get her first cold just yet, but we will have to wait and see. 

Jane is definitely changing everyday.  Most noticeable is the fact that Jane is going bald, at least partly.  At the moment she is keeping the hair on the sides and back of her head but losing all of the hair on top (baby pattern baldness?).  If her eyebrows are any indication the hair should come back much lighter, maybe even blond.  One of our friends even said the other day that she thought Janie looked like me… but she will probably have Amy’s blue eyes.

The sleep schedule is still pretty erratic, though not as bad as some.  Typically Jane winds down between 9 and 11 every night.  No matter when you do the last feed she seems to want to eat around 1 am and then she holds out to somewhere between 4 and 7 am.  I have heard a lot worse, we have friends with the every two hour routine, but it is still an adjustment.  It is great that Amy has almost till the end of the year off, because right now I am barely staying conscious enough for the drive to work.
